В Южном полушарии прошли первые соревнования тура TTR World Tour 08/09. Соревнования проходили в парке Snow Park NZ курорта Lake Wanaka в Новой Зеландии. В соревнованиях приняли участие лучшие райдеры мира - медалисты X-Games, лидеры прошлогоднего тура TTR и лучшие райдеры Новой Зеландии.
Сперва прошли соревнования по слоупстайлу.
Погода в день проведения слоупстайла порадовала бы в любой другой день, но не во время проведения соревнований. Паудер и пасмурное небо не лучшие помощники в этом нелегком деле.
Первое место занял норвежец Миккель Банг, вот как он отозвался о погодных условиях “Когда я посмотрел в окно то понял - ничего хорошего не выйдет. Погода не из лучших, но снег оказался очень хорошим и мягким, я отлично покатал!”
Победный заезд Банга состоял из switch frontside boardslide, Cab 540 nose tap, cab 720 mute, switch backside 900 mute, 270 на рейле и в заключение alley-oop на волрайде.
Первой среди девушек стала американка Джейми Андерсон выполнившая в одном из заездов комбинацию из noseslide, frontside 180 nose bonk, Cab 5, backside 5, gap to tailslide и все тот же alley-oop на волрайде. “Хорошие трамплины и прикольные рейлы, еще бы солнышка то вообще все было бы идеально!” сказала она во время церемонии награждения.

На следующий день после слоупстайла прошли соревнования по халфпайпу.
Среди женщин в полуфинале лидировала американка Келли Кларк, заработавшая 86.5 балла. Второе место в полуфинале заняла китаянка Яю Лю. Она впервые принимала участие в соревнованиях серии Burton Global. Чемпионка в слоупстайле Джейми Андерсон еле пробилась на восьмое место, что стоило ей разбитых десен.
Но в финалах все получилось с точностью до наоборот. В первый же заезд Андерсон получила 84.25 балла и выиграла номинацию лучший трюк выполнив inverted backside 540. Этим заездом она заработала себе первое место. Кларк обычно в финалах выступает хуже чем в полуфиналах, так получилось и в этот раз. Несмотря на то что все прыжки были с большой амплитудой ошибки и уборки скинули ее на третье место. Второе место досталось Лю выполнявшую прыжки с феноменальной амплитудой. Многие райдеры напряглись - ведь Лю первенец растущей сноубордической сцены Китая.
Среди мужчин также лидировали азиаты, райдеры из Страны восходящего солнца заняли 6 мест в финалах. Первое и третье место в полуфинале заняли фины Янне Корпи и Маркус Малин, но в финале лишь Маркус смог пробиться на пьедестал почета. Первое и третье место заняли самураи Казухиро Кокубо и Дайсуке Мураками.
Три лучших райдера попали в суперфинал по четырем попыткам. Среди жещин лучшей стала Андерсон. Среди мужчин лучший заезд дня выполнил Дайсуке Мураками, но убрался на последнем хите, позволив Казухиро занять первое место со счетом 92.5 балла. Но Мураками выиграл номинацию лучший трюк за приземление frontside 1080 tailgrab. Под светом ярких прожекторов райдеры атаковали 9 метровый квотерпайп.
Награду за лучший трюк (backside 540) получила Келли Кларк, также она выиграла в номинации Самый высокий прыжок. Но не смотря на свои прыжки, лучшей стала киви Джулиан Брей приземлявшая без ошибок трюк за трюком.
Среди мужчин битва развернулсь между братьями Мураками. Младший выполнил Лучший трюк McTwist, а старший Самый высокий прыжок. Но первое место занял американец Берннан Свансон.
